The Grand Hotel was a box-like brown hotel built in the 1970's. It sat Vacant for a year or so until it was demolished in 2006. The new grand is being built in its place. It is about 14 stories tall, one of the tallest or the tallest buildings on the island. Kind of makes you miss the old one.

One of the most recognised motels in the Wildwood Crest motel district, The Kona Kai motel with its lava rock trim, tiki garden and polynesian themed rooms fell to the wrecking ball in 2005.&nbsp;It will be missed.

I remember visiting the Folwer in the late '60s when my aunt's sister and her family own and ran it. It was a sweet little place with a postage-stamp sized pool. The building, if I recall correctly was a variegated tan brick with dark green trim. The individual rooms were small and neat.

Another little treasure on Popular Ave now gone.
