Wildwood Crest, NJ 08260

(800) 247-4776 / (609) 522-6507

The Aqua Beach Resort is essentially a combination and renovation All Star Motel and Aqua Motel. Since then it has been added on to even more and now has its own luxury condominiums across the street. In 2009 the Aqua Beach's original road side neon sign was replaced with a new "Neo Doo Wop" but somewhat Art Deco looking one.

Atlantic Ocean Winds Motel
608 Ocean Ave.
North Wildwood, NJ 08260

(609) 523-2700

The Atlantic Ocean Winds Motel was a bright blue and white Shore Thing style motel in North Wildwood. Now it is practically unrecognizable since it was renovated to look like a cookie cutter condo. Its roadside neon sign was also removed. The Atlantic Ocean Winds had previously been known as the King Neptune Motel & Apts, and then as the Norman-D Motel & Apts.

Atlantis Condominiums
500 E. St. Paul Ave.
Wildwood Crest, NJ 08260

(609) 522-9238

Before the Atlantis Condominiums was the Internationale Motel, it was the Atlantis Lodge-which, presumably, the name of the present-day condo recalls. It is believed to be unique among motel-condo conversions in the Wildwoods as an ambitious expansion/renovation that still shows, nevertheless, the bones of the original. According to a photo taken of it from the beach, its first phase of redevelopment—with a third floor added, but prior to the extension of the north wing—took place in 1996-7. (It already had a condos-for-sale sign on it at that point.)

The Atlantis Lodge opened in the mid-50s, probably '54, and operated continuously until new owners rechristened it the Internationale in the mid- to late '60s. It was one of the first motels built on the oceanfront in the postwar era, with the Beach Waves Motel in 1956.

Bayberry Motel
401 E. 23rd Avenue
North Wildwood, NJ 08260

At the time before it was converted to condos, the Bayberry Motel was affiliated with the Flame Inn. Also, a penthouse suite was added to the North wing. The Bayberry is almost unrecognizable today, looking like a cookie cutter condo building. Its bright blue neon sign was taken down, and the exterior totally redone in a modern way.

Beach Cove Motel
429 E. 20th Avenue
North Wildwood, NJ 08260

Owned and operated in recent years by actor Jack Hallett, the Beach Cove was comprised of hodge-podge of structures just off of North Wildwood's thriving Surf Avenue strip. The motel enjoyed a loyal clientele over the years, but disappeared with little fanfare shortly after the 2004 season.
