The oversized rooftop neon signs on the north and south ends of the building are hard to miss when coming from either direction, particularly at night. While the Crest has always been best known for its incomparable collection of architecturally-diverse mid-century motels, the Captain's Table stood out as a 'Doo Wop' classic in its own right. Yet another of Lou Morey's unique inventions, it consistenly earned rave reviews (including several Zagat ratings) as one of the top seafood restaurants at the Jersey Shore. Unfortunately, it fell along with scores of the island's motels during the condo boom of the early 2000s.

Originally called Schumann's Restaurant, Hudson's Restaurant was located next to the Satellite Motel and mirrored its 1960's space age sweeping roof line. Unfortunately, it was demolished after the 2004 season, and then shortly after so was the Satellite Motel. Two unique structures are now gone forever and were replaced with boring cookie cutter condos with no charm.

After two stays in The Wildwoods (2007 and 2008) Little Italy proved to be the place to dine. As a BYOB, (The Crest is "dry") bring the beverage of your choice to this succulent dining experience where the veal dishes are out of this world and capollini and crab meat was just like eating at home. My Wife Maria (who is Italian born and bred throughly enjoys the food served here. I have eaten in many great South Philly establishments and Little Italy makes the grade.

If Maria likes it, you can bet you will have a great meal. Mangia!

The Olympic Restaurant was situated on John F. Kennedy Boulevard between 9th and 10th Avenues where the present-day Olympic Gardens Condominium now stands. It was a modern building with ample windows over looking the dunes and beach. This ocean view establishment had seating for over 100 diners, was fully air conditioned, and specialized in steak and seafood. The restaurant served breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

The building is currently undergoing renovations and will presumably re-open with a new name, theme and menu in 2008. The rumored name for the new business is "Jersey Girl."

 Easily spotted from the road, Schellenger's Restaurant is most remembered for all the crazy nautical decorations on the roof. The roof decorations originally started as a way to cover up the Air conditioning units. Now, Schellenger's is trying to set a world record for the most stuff on a roof. Schumannn's Restaurant was built right next to the Satellite Motel and resembled it with a crazy sweeping roof line. In its last few years it was renamed Hudson's Restaurant. It closed after the 2003 season and was then demolished. Its rooftop neon sign was saved and now can now be found at the Doo Wop Experience Museum.&nbsp;

 Right next to The Newport Motel this Subway's Neo Doo Wop neon sign is the only one of its kind. The sign was designed and built locally by ABS signs.

A staple on the Crest's Ocean Avenue strip for years, the Surfside closed after the 2002 season. Though it was scheduled for demolition, the Doo Wop Preservation League raised the funds to have the structure dismantled and kept in storage. It has been rebuilt, and is ready to re-open as the new Doo Wop Experience Museum, at Ocean and Burk Ave. in Wildwood proper.

 Urie's Restaurant was built in 1956 Right on the bay on Rio Grande Avenue. Although it has been expanded and a separate gift shop added over the years, it sill shows off its two classic neon signs at the main entrance to the Wildwoods on Rio Grande Avenue.

Remembered fondly for its zany methods of advertising and presentation, Zorro's Pizzeria was one of the more unique entities to pop up in the Wildwoods during the 1970s. It was also another in a long line of businesses on the island that took its theme from a contemporary pop culture source. Zorro's is long gone, though the building it operated out of remains standing (albeit boarded up and neglected) on Pacific Ave. in Wildwood proper.
