North Wildwood, NJ 08260

(609) 522-3576

A longtime fixture on New Jersey Ave. in North Wildwood, A&LP has happily served generations of visitors to the island for over half a century. The oversized rooftop neon signs on the north and south ends of the building are hard to miss when coming from either direction, particularly at night. This institution remains family owned and operated, and is open all year round.

Acropolis Oceanfront Resort
300 Kennedy Beach Drive
North Wildwood, NJ 08260

(609) 522-5400

Amid a cluster of older, smaller buildings in North Wildwood's upper motel district, the Acropolis and nearby Regency Towers dominate the beachfront skyline. The sentinel nature of the 1970s-era Acropolis calls to mind the ancient structure for which it was named, which for thousands of years has loomed high above the city of Athens, Greece.

(800) 232-7873 / (609) 729-1200

Although not a classic "Doo-Wop" styled property like it's Neighbors The Bel Air Motel and Caribbean Motel , The Adventurer is a sizable Motor Inn with the feel of a Hotel. It is a 7-story high-rise that has a variety of rooms, efficiencies and suites including Penthouse Suites on the seventh floor, both Oceanview and Oceanfront. Originally, the Adventurer began as as 4 story structure, then was expanded to a 6 story structure with the Penthouse Suites added last.  With the Penthouse suites there are continuous balconies that are divided per room by railings.

Like a Hotel, the Rooms are accessed via inter-connecting corridors, within the building and are serviced by two elevators located at convenient locations. The north, south and oceanfront rooms are seperated by partitions creating individual balconies.

Besides the usual Pool and Sundeck, The Adventurer offers such amentities as an Oceanfront Resturant, Laundromat, Cardio Room, Tanning Room, and a Day Room with a Small Arcade. Off street and underground parking are provided. The building spans a block on Ocean Ave from the Wildwood Crest side of Cresse Ave to Morning Glory Rd.

Captain's Table Restaurant
Hollywood Ave. & The Beach
Wildwood Crest, NJ 08260

While the Crest has always been best known for its incomparable collection of architecturally-diverse mid-century motels, the Captain's Table stood out as a 'Doo Wop' classic in its own right. Yet another of Lou Morey's unique inventions, it consistenly earned rave reviews (including several Zagat ratings) as one of the top seafood restaurants at the Jersey Shore. Unfortunately, it fell along with scores of the island's motels during the condo boom of the early 2000s.

Historic Register: Motels of the Wildwoods MPDF S.R. 1/16/2004.  It' was a contributing structure even though not a Motel.
