Casino Theater
Atlantic & Cedar Ave.
Wildwood, NJ 08260

Though it opened roughly 15 years before the 'Doo Wop Era' began, the Casino could rightfully have claimed to be a forerunner of the futuristic architectural styles that would later emerge, wowing patrons with one of the earliest examples of Art Moderne design. This was actually the third version of the Casino, the first two theaters on the premises having burnt down in 1922 and 1939, respectively.

Strand Theater
3100 Boardwalk
Wildwood, NJ 08260

(609) 523-0288

The Strand is the last remaining link to the once-dominant Hunt's movie theater empire in the Wildwoods. It is also the only theater in operation left on the Boardwalk (the Regent Theater now serves as the Boardwalk Mall, while the Ocean Theater still stands but is used as storage). Though its history has been largely forgotten, the Strand was one of the more significant movie theaters built in the country after World War II...

Wildwood Convention Hall
4552 Ocean Avenue
Wildwood, NJ 08260

The Wildwood Convention Hall was an 18,000 square foot building built on Ocean Avenue facing the Boardwalk. The Convention Hall consisted of a single convention room and a series of glass fronted shops on the Boardwalk. In the year 2000, plans to build a larger more functional Convention Center to replace the smaller aging Convention Hall took place. A 40 foot hole was torn in the boardwalk to make room for the new Convention Center across the boardwalk on the beach. Construction started in 2000 and was completed in 2001, which ended the operation of the old Convention Hall. It sat vacant across the boardwalk until it was demolished In late 2002. When the space was cleared, the Wildwood's new grand entrance project could begin to take shape with the New Convention Center as the focal point.
