Wildwood Convention Hall
4552 Ocean Avenue
Wildwood, NJ 08260
The Wildwood Convention Hall was an 18,000 square foot building built on Ocean Avenue facing the Boardwalk. The Convention Hall consisted of a single convention room and a series of glass fronted shops on the Boardwalk. In the year 2000, plans to build a larger more functional Convention Center to replace the smaller aging Convention Hall took place. A 40 foot hole was torn in the boardwalk to make room for the new Convention Center across the boardwalk on the beach. Construction started in 2000 and was completed in 2001, which ended the operation of the old Convention Hall. It sat vacant across the boardwalk until it was demolished In late 2002. When the space was cleared, the Wildwood's new grand entrance project could begin to take shape with the New Convention Center as the focal point.
Submitted by Chris: For several summers, my brother and I would always look forward to visiting a wonderful ice cream shop located on the boardwalk side of the Convention Center. What made this ice cream shop so great was the fact that they would give you just the scoops of ice cream, and you could complete the sundae at a great toppings bar where you could add a good variety of wonderful items! I remember piling on all of the yummy Sundae standards, and most fun was topping it off with a 6 inch high pile of whipped cream! I don't remember the name of the shop, but I remember the flavors!! Yummm Yummmm....
